The Brooklyn Nets are trading Joe Harris to the Detroit Pistons along with two future second-round picks (2027 and 2029) in order to pay his $19.9 million contract for the current season.

Joe Harris made a comeback and played in a total of 74 games for the Brooklyn Nets in the 2022–23 season after a foot ailment limited his participation to only 14 games in the 2021–22 season. However, compared to prior years, his performance suffered. He had his lowest scoring and rebound averages with the Nets since his first campaign with the organization in 2016–17, averaging 7.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. While playing with the Nets, his three-point shooting percentage fell to 42.6 percent, which is a career-low.
