Byron Young, a player from Tennessee’s NFL Draft class, has reportedly signed his rookie contract with the Los Angeles Rams. He becomes the fifth player from Tennessee to sign with an NFL team.

Young was chosen by the Rams with the 77th overall pick in the third round. According to Spotrac, the estimated value of Young’s contract is $5.56 million, which includes a signing bonus of $1.04 million.

The Tennessee player has shown talent and had an effect on the field during his time at Tennessee with an excellent performance. With 83 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, and 12.5 sacks in 23 career games over two seasons as a junior college transfer, Young had a big impact. He had 37 total tackles, 12.0 tackles for a loss, and 7.0 sacks in the most recent season. Young recorded 5.5 sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 46 total tackles in the previous season. Young’s distinguished performances at Tennessee probably had something to do with the Los Angeles Rams choosing him in the NFL Draft.

Byron Young’s jersey number with the Los Angeles Rams will be No. 0, a significant choice as he becomes the first player in the history of the Rams franchise to wear that number. Young had previously worn No. 6, as he thrived as a pass rusher on the edge during his stellar seasons at Tennessee.

The NFL will allow the use of jersey No. 0 for the first time for the 2024 season. The new rule allows players in all position groups, excluding offensive and defensive linemen, to wear the number.

Four players from Tennessee were chosen in the third round of the NFL Draft, including Byron Young. Notably, only ten choices separated the selection of all four Tennessee players. In this list of draft picks, Young’s name was the last one called.
