Amidst the anticipation of the highly-anticipated Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford fight, tensions escalated backstage at the T-Mobile Arena during the Friday weigh-ins.

In a video posted on Twitter by Michael Benson, former IBF super middleweight champion Caleb Plant can be seen delivering a forceful open-handed slap to WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, sparking a heated altercation between the two boxers and their respective entourages.

The footage captured the audible impact of the slap, leaving onlookers stunned as Charlo briefly followed Plant before being redirected by bystanders. Although the exact cause of the altercation remains unclear, Plant’s reaction suggested that there may have been a previous physical exchange before the slap.

Caleb Plant, 31, holds a record of 22 wins and 2 losses, with 13 knockout victories. His last bout was a unanimous decision loss to David Benavidez for the WBC interim super middleweight title in March.

On the other hand, Jermall Charlo, 33, boasts an unblemished record of 32 wins, including 22 knockouts. He last competed in June 2021, successfully defending the WBC middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Juan Macias Montiel.

Adding to the commotion, a second video surfaced on Twitter, shared by user Latisha Crawford, showing additional violence in the T-Mobile Arena parking lot. The video captured a fight between two women after Charlo’s departure from the scene.
