With the Bears’ season opener against the Packers on Sunday, Davis’ absence on Thursday is another troubling development. Davis missed a large part of training camp for an unidentified reason.

Davis had participated fully in practice on Wednesday, but it is now unclear whether he will play on Sunday. Additionally, linebacker Dylan Cole (hamstring) and tight end Marcedes Lewis (rest) missed practice on Thursday for the Bears. Safety Defensive end DeMarcus Walker (calf), safety Eddie Jackson (ankle), and Jaquan Brisker (groin) were all total participants.

Teven Jenkins’ injury to his leg has already forced the Bears to rearrange their offensive line. Cody Whitehair has taken over Jenkins’ left guard position, while Lucas Patrick has been added to the starting lineup at center.

For the Packers game, the Bears will need all hands on deck, thus Davis’ absence is a major setback. He should be able to practice again shortly and be prepared to play on Sunday.

Davis has already missed many training camps and OTAs for an unclear reason. He also has not made any public comments regarding his absence, and the Bears have not made any announcements.
