Denmark’s attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen was spotted in public for the first time after his horror collapse at Copenhagen on June 12. A fan took a picture with the 29-year-old footballer and posted it on Instagram.

Eriksen had suffered a cardiac arrest during his side’s 1-0 defeat against Finland in their opening game at Euro 2020. He was resuscitated on the field and taken to the Rigshospitalet (hospital) in Copenhagen.

The Danish player returned home on June 18 after undergoing an operation to have a cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) implanted. He has been resting in Odense for the past few weeks. However, Bjorn Bindzus, who is also a child actor, spotted Eriksen at Tidvilde Strand beach, 60 km from Copenhagen, and asked for a picture.

While talking to the Danish newspaper BT, Bindzus said,” I was nervous and completely speechless when I had to ask about the picture. But I’m proud that I did it and I’m very happy today. We were at a photoshoot for a commercial when I suddenly saw him while we were having lunch. So I waited to ask him until he had finished talking to his girlfriend. And he said yes right away.

Denmark are playing the Czech Republic in the quarter-final of the Euro 2020 on Saturday. The Danish team lead the scoreline 2-1 by the 51st minute. Forward Kasper Dolberg and midfielder Thomas Delaney scored the two goals for the Danish team.

Last month Erikson visited the national team when they were training. Denmark’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel recalled Eriksen’s visit, describing it as a fantastic moment. Schmeichel said that many players were seeing Erikson for the first time, so training was immediately halted, and everyone went over to him.
