215 Indian players will be the center of attraction for Indian sports fans during the 2020 Commonwealth Games. India had managed to rank third in the medal list at Commonwealth Games 2018 with 66 medals in total. The hopes are higher this time as cricket also enters the third largest multi-sport event in the world.

Boxing: Nikhat Zareen, Shiva Thapa, Amit Panghal, Ashish Chaudhary, and other Indian boxers will play their round of 32 matches on July 30.

Weightlifting:  Mirabai Chanu and Sanket Mahadev will be in action on July 30 while Purnima Pandey and Usha Kumari will have their first game on August 2. On August 1 Popy Hazarika and Ajay Singh will be in action.

Wrestling: Sakshi Malik, Anshu Malik, Deepak Punia, and Bajrang Punia to begin their CWG 2022 campaign on August 5. Pooja Gehlot, Vinesh Phogat, and Pooja Sihag will play their first match on August 6.

Athletics: Javelin throwers Neeraj Chopra, DP Manu, and Rohit Yadav will play their first match on August 5. Heema Das, Dutee Chand, and Srabani Nanda will run in their first women’s relay match.

Cricket: Indian women’s cricket team will be one of 8 cricket teams to be participating in the CWG 2022. India will play Australia on July 29 to be followed by the big India-Pakistan encounter. India’s third and last game will be against Barbados on August 3. The Bronze medal match and the Gold medal match will be played on 7 August.

Hockey: Manpreet Singh-led team India is confident after winning bronze at Tokyo Olympics. Team India will play against Ghana on July 31. India’s next three matches will be against England, Canada, and Wales on August 1, 3, and 4 respectively.

The women’s Hockey team will take on Ghana on July 29 and Wales the next day. The next two games of the Women’s Indian team will be against England on August 2 and Canada on August 3.
