Kareem Jackson, a safety for the Denver Broncos, was ejected from the team for the second time this season after illegally hitting rival receivers with high hits. The NFL suspended Jackson for four games on Monday.

Jackson’s actions during Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, notably a hit on Packers tight end Luke Musgrave, are the reason for this punishment.

Jackson has received three flags and two ejections this season for similar offenses. Jon Runyan, vice president of football operations for the NFL, announced the suspension.

In the second half of the Denver Broncos’ 19-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers, the incident took place. Jordan Love sent a pass to Luke Musgrove, who secured it. Kareem Jackson dove in, lowering his head for the hit. Musgrave’s head snapped back sharply from the force of the collision.

For Jackson, this is his second ejection of the year. He was sent off in Week 2 after hitting Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas, which caused a concussion. Jackson made a strong tackle during that play to get the ball out of his helmet.

Jackson was fined $19,669 for hitting Thomas, but he did not receive a suspension. He was not disqualified for the hit against Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers, but he was fined $14,819 for needless roughness in a helmet-to-helmet contact that caused Meyers to suffer a concussion the week before.

Jackson has an outstanding 14-year NFL career and has been selected to three Pro Bowls (2010), (2013), and (2015). Impressively, he is one of just three active defensive backs with over 800 tackles, 20 interceptions, and 100 passes defensed in his career, together with Malcolm Jenkins (N.O. / Phi.) and Devin McCourty (N.E.).
