Fans are speculating whether Cristiano Ronaldo was trolling Manchester United before it was announced that the footballer and the club will be parting ways, effective immediately. He posted a new watch collection on the day his second spell at the club came to an end. 

Ronaldo took to social media to post about his new watch collection that included a goal he scored against United for Real Madrid in the Champions League back in 2013.

“I’m excited to announce my partnership with Jacob and co , one of the leading watch brands in the world,” the former Real star wrote on Instagram. “Today, we reveal our first watch collection that I co-designed with my dear friend Jacob Arabo.”

In the post, the legendary footballer sported two designs with one of them showing him celebrating the goal.

“Still mocking man utd,” one Twitter user said, while another person stated, “He owns that small club.” One more noted, “His watch is bigger than United.” Another noted, “He’s trolling man united.”

Manchester United confirmed via a statement on its website that it will be parting ways with the footballer.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect,” the club said. “The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.”

  The decision comes in the wake of a bombshell interview that Ronaldo gave to British broadcaster Piers Morgan. Sources told ESPN earlier that  Manchester was reportedly seeking to terminate the 37-year-old’s contract after he criticized the club and manager Erik ten Hag.  

 Ronaldo, in his interview with Morgan, said that he was surprised about how certain things at the club have remained the same since he was there for his last spell.

The Portugal captain spoke of his surprise to see that many pieces of equipment in the gym were still the same, the pool and jacuzzi were the same, and there was hardly any new technology brought into the club. CR7 is of the opinion that the club has not been reinventing itself since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.   

Amongst his criticisms he mentioned that only three of his teammates were ‘professional,’ and he said that he was being ‘forced’ out of the club.
