Justin Thomas slipped under the cut line as the Masters on Saturday to make way for Tiger Woods’ 23rd consecutive cuts. The latter now ties with Gary Player and Fred Couples for the tournament record.

Fans jokes that Thomas failed the cut on purpose.

“Let’s give a round of applause to Justin Thomas for laying it so Tiger could make the cut.👏👏👏👏👏” a Twitter user said.

“Justin Thomas missed the cut on purpose and I will not believe anything else. What a friend!” another one added.

Woods bogeyed his final two holes for a 73 on Friday. He slid outside the cut line with a finish in the rain-delayed second round. The 15-time Majors winner was then tied 51st when he finished with the top 50. He could have gone home.

But then his friend Justin Thomas came to rescue. The World No 10 had bogeyed the final two holes for a 78 to miss the cut. He  bogeyed final two holes to move the cut line from 2 over to 3 over and allowed Woods to play the rest of the weekend.

Thomas finished at 4-over and missed the cut.

“I’ve always loved this golf course, and I love playing this event. Obviously I’ve missed a couple with some injuries, but I’ve always wanted to play here. I’ve loved it.” Woods won the Masters on his first appearance as a pro and has now made 23 consecutive cuts here to draw level with the record held by Gary Player and Freddie Couples,” Tiger Woods said.
