Nikola Jokic guided the Denver Nuggets to the 2023 NBA Finals win against Miami Heat. The Serb won the MVP trophy.

However, in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews, the Denver center revealed that he lost the 2023 NBA Finals MVP trophy. The 28-year-old said that he left it in the Nuggets equipment manager’s room, but it wasn’t there when he returned.

“I gotta tell you, I’ve done a couple of these NBA Finals MVP interviews, and you’re the first one to come in without the trophy,” Andrews told Jokić.

“I really don’t know. I left it in [equipment manager Sparky Gonzalez’s] room and it’s not there anymore. So, I don’t know. But hopefully it can arrive in my house,” the Denver star responded.

The Nuggets beat Miami 94-89 in Game 5 to take the series 4-1. Jokic had 28 points, 16 rebounds and four assists. During the interview with Andrews, he was asked about what it felt like for him to win his first ring and be crowned the Finals MVP.

“I really don’t know. I think I can be much better. But you still need to sacrifice yourself. Basketball is not the main thing in my life. It’s something that I’m good at,” he said.

Nikola Jokic averaged 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per game in the finals. He had two triple-double games. In Game 2, the Serbian player had a huge 40-point double-double.

“We succeeded in our jobs and we won the whole thing. It’s an amazing feeling. But like I said before, it’s not everything in the world. … There is [a] bunch of things that I like to do. Probably that’s a normal thing. Nobody likes his job, or maybe they do. They’re lying. But it’s a good feeling,” Jokic said after the game.
