Shan Masood, a left-handed batter who is part of Pakistan’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, made headlines on Friday, October 21, when he suffered a horrific head injury during a net session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

The 33-year-old was originally a replacement for Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup 2022. However, he was taken to a hospital for scans when a shot by Mohammad Nawaz hit him in the right side of his head. Any updates regarding his current conditions are yet to be announced.

A short video footage of the Pakistan squad’s net session at the MCG went viral soon after news of Masood’s head injury emerged. The video showed a devastated Mohammad Nawaz sitting on his knees and taking off his gloves as the rest of his teammates looked to be taking care of Shan Masood. However, Masood was not visible in the video.

As per several reports, Masood was on the ground for a long time before he was transported to the hospital. The injury comes as a shock to the Pakistan squad, who are only days away from facing arch-rivals India in their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign opener at the same venue. However, it has since been reported that Masood was conscious and did not show any sign of a concussion following the blow.
