Fakhar Zaman is a 31-year-old batsman from Pakistan who comes from the land of Mardan that has produced Pakistan’s greatest Test batsman Younis Khan. The left-handed explosive batsman has been on Pakistan’s domestic cricket circuit for over five years.

The batsman, who has an unusually high backlift, as per experts relies on his timings for runs.

His run-scoring prowess can be judged by his average in the domestic circuit. He has 42 in first-class cricket and 49 in List A. However, it wasn’t until the Quaid-e-Azam trophy in 2016-17 that he was noticed.

During the competition, he scored 663 runs at an average of 51, including 170 in the second innings of the final. His form saw him getting acquired by Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super Leagues (PSL).

He oozed class when he destroyed the opposition by scoring a quick-fire 33-ball 56 against Karachi. His performance at the PSL got him a national call-up for Pakistan’s T20I side for the West Indies tour and made his debut in the second match.

In his first three T20Is, he could only manage a total of 26 runs. A few months later, he made his ODI debut in England during the 2017 Champions Trophy.

Even though he missed the first match against India, in the upcoming matches he registered scores of 31, 50, 57 and 114 in his first four ODI innings. He was striking at 113.00 at the top-order. In the final, he scored a scintillating hundred that got him the player of the match award. His hundred helped Pakistan set a daunting 338 for India.

In 53 T20Is, he scored 1021 with the highest being 91. While his average stands at 136.32, he has an average of 21.72. He had five fifties to his name.

In 53 ODIs, he has scored 2325 runs, the highest being a mammoth 210. He has 6 hundreds and 1 double century and 13 half-centuries.

The left-handed batsman made his T20 debut against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval on March 30 and played his last T20 at Providence Stadium on August 3.
