After Spain’s Round of 16 game against Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022 finished goalless at the end of 90 minutes, Spain’s lack of precision in the final third drew irks from fans. Morocco is yet to concede a goal in the Qatar World Cup, and it remained so as Spain failed to score against them even in the penalty shootout.

Fans on social media reacted to the 2010 FIFA World Cup winner’s performance, and as expected, they were not positive. They lost 3-0 in penalties and got knocked out of the competition in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup when they lost to Russia in penalties.

Spain held 76% possession in the match and completed 883 passes but could not score a goal against Morocco’s low defensive block. One user found them just ‘shit’ when they were winning matches. Now, he thinks that Spain are ‘just shit to watch’. Check out the tweet.

Another fan remarked that Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has kept the Spanish midfield of Gavi, Pedri and Busquets quite. Only one fact-check, Amrabat is not 40, but only 26 years old. However, it is hard to disagree with the remark.

In a sensible comment, a fan observed how Spain looked quite uncomfortable from the very start. The tweet also praised Morocco for keeping their defensive shape intact throughout the match.

In another sensible observation, a fan noted how Morocco will be fancying their chances longer the game goes on. If it goes into penalty shootouts, then it’s evident that it can turn either way.

Spain’s humongous number of passes in the game failed to produce any goal. A fan thought that it might be a good idea to remind them that the team with the most goals wins the match and not the team with the most passes.
