In anticipation of an impending snowstorm, the Buffalo Bills issued a call to fans for snow removal assistance at Highmark Stadium. The original wild-card game schedule against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday was shifted to 4:30 p.m. ET on Monday due to severe blizzard conditions forecasted by the National Weather Service.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard, expressing concern over life-threatening conditions. Travel bans were implemented, recalling the tragic events of late December 2022 when 34 stranded motorists succumbed to the harsh weather.

Despite the game’s rescheduling, the Bills had initially hired snow shovelers with an hourly pay of $20 to clear the stadium before the travel ban came into effect. However, with the ban still in place, the team requested shovelers to await further instructions.

The team assured fans, aged 18 and above, that they would receive breaks and complimentary food for their efforts, urging them to bring their own shovels. The decision to postpone the game and seek fan assistance reflects the severity of the anticipated snowfall, with forecasts ranging from 1 to 3 feet, exacerbated by lake effect snow.

Highmark Stadium’s Saturday night footage showcased the intensity of the weather conditions, prompting the team’s cautious approach in managing the situation. Details on when shovelers can expect to arrive at the stadium will be released once the travel ban is lifted.
