Several social media users slammed BBC and Jio Cinema for not broadcasting the closing ceremony of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Sunday. 

“Wait is Jio Cinema not showing Closing Ceremony for #FIFAWorldCupFinal #ArgentinaVsFrance ??” a Twitter user said.

“@BBCOne big shame on bbc for not showing closing ceremony of fifa world cup. Stop asking for Tv license fee next time,” another one tweeted. 

“TV licence payers money and yet the @BBCSport aren’t showing the closing ceremony and making our choices for us. The quicker the TV license is scrapped and I don’t have to listen to woke people like @GaryLineker preaching to me the better!!! #TVlicence #byebyeBBC,” a third one tweeted.

The closing ceremony started at 7 PM IST. The broadcasting rights for the 2022 FIFA World Cup were bought by Viacom Network 18 in India. All matches of Qatar 2022 were telecasted live on Sports18 and Sports18 HD. Jio Cinema provided the OTT service. BBC and ITV were also given the broadcasting rights.

“A Night to Remember” will wrap-up the closing ceremony with a mashup of songs from the Official Soundtrack of the tournament.

Davido and Aisha sung ‘(Hayya Hayya) Better Together’, Ozuna and Gims did ‘Arhbo’, and the full female lineup of ‘Light the Sky’ was present with Nora Fatehi, Balqees, Rahma Riad and Manal at the ceremony.

“World Cup Closing ceremony looks empty. No one cares at that point. I’m so glad Jungkook performed in the opening ceremony as the main event!” a Twitter user said. 

“the FIFA World Cup final closing ceremony was beautiful. #KusazobaMnandi,” another one said.
