The 7-year-old daughter of Ghana football team’s captain André Ayew was taken to the hospital after fainting in the stands during the second half of the Ghana-Uruguay game.

According to Rahman Osman, Football writer for Londonworld.com, Maha Ayew, Andre’s second child collapsed after her father’s penalty attempt from 12 yards was saved in the first half.

At halftime, Andre and his brother, Jordan were substituted as they rushed to the hospital.

During the first 45 minutes of Ghana’s final group stage match against the South American nation, midfielder Mohammed Kudus was fouled by goalkeeper Sergio Rochet, earning Ghana a penalty kick. Ayew moved to take the penalty, but Rochet dived to his left to make the save. He decided to

In an Instagram post after the match, Ayew broke his silence about how he felt regarding the health of his daughter, his side’s exit from the World Cup and how proud he is of his teammates.

Ghana also set a unique record following the loss. The team managed by Otto Addo is now the first in World Cup history to twice miss a non-shootout penalty against the same opponent.

The four-time African Champions had lost a game to the same team in 2010 when Asamoah Gyan, a former forward for Sunderland, missed from the same spot at the 2010 edition of the World Cup as well.

Ghana’s performance in 2022 FIFA World Cup:

After not qualifying for the 2018 edition in Russia, Ghana played in their fourth World Cup this year. The team played three games in the group stage but only managed to win a solitary game. They won a closely contested match, 3-2 vs South Korea.

The team suffered defeats at the hands of Portugal and Uruguay as they bowed out of the competition. Andre Ayew scored the first goal of the tournament for the team in a 3-2 loss to Portugal in the first match for the side.
