England striker Harry Kane has been always short of trophies in spite of being a world-class striker. He came close to winning one with the Three Lions in the 2020 Euro Cup but lost the final to Italy in penalty shootouts.

Previously, he came close to winning the UEFA Champions League when his club Tottenham Hotspur reached the final against Liverpool in Madrid. However, Spurs lost that match 2-1 as Kane’s trophy curse kept on going.

Captaining the England side, his counterpart in the quarter-final was his club teammate Hugo Lloris. Lloris face him in the goal as he stepped up to take England’s second penalty in the game after a foul on Mason Mount by Theo Hernandez. However, shocking all the Three Lions fans he hit the ball way above the goal failing to equalise when Egland needed him the most. 

Kane and co had a great chance to take the World Cup home from Qatar. When they started the tournament, they were easily one of the favourites to win it after their brilliant Euro Cup run. But all dreams came crashing down as they lost to Les Bleus.

England has not won a major tournament since 1966, and Harry Kane has not won any in his entire playing career. 

At the end of the match, the England striker was consoled by everyone on the pitch including coach Gareth Southgate. As he knelt disappointed on the pitch, England goalie Jordan Pickford asked the cameramen to stop recording him.  

After the win today, France will face Morocco in the semi-final of the Qatar World Cup. They became the second team after Brazil in 1998 to reach the World Cup semis two consecutive times.

As for Harry Kane, he will at least be happy that he is leaving Qatar without any major injury and will be back with his club as the Premier League resumes a week after the FIFA World Cup ends on December 2021. 

Spurs are currently fourth in the Premier League table and they have also reached the Round of 16 of the Champions League. Harry Kane still has the opportunity to life a trophy with his club this year.
