India will face Pakistan in their opening encounter of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 in New Zealand. The event, which begins on March 4, 2022 with the hosts taking on West Indies, will hold 31 games across as many days.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released the schedule of the Women’s World Cup. Eight teams will participate in the showpiece event. Australia, England, South Africa and India qualified for the tournament on the basis of their position in ICC Women’s Championship 2017-20 while New Zealand automatically qualified as they were hosts.

Bangladesh, Pakistan and West Indies made the cut on the basis of their ODI rankings after the qualifiers were called off due to a COVID-related uncertainty.

All eight participants will face each other once and the top four will qualify for the semi-finals. The first knock out game will take place at The Basin Reserve in Wellington on March 30 while The Hagley Oval will staged the second semi-final on March 31. The finals of the tournament will played on April 3.
