Rahul’s form for the upcoming Test series against South Africa will prove vital for two reasons. The first one being Rohit Sharma’s absence from the squad due to a hamstring injury. The other factor that hooked people to the video was Rahul’s recovery from his own injury that made him sit out the series against New Zealand. He suffered a muscle strain in his left thigh and went through a rehabilitation period at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Rahul’s performance in South Africa has been unremarkable so far. However, in 2021 he had been in good form before being struck down with injury. He has a total of 2,321 runs in his test career with a strike-rate of 54.12, along with six centuries in the red-ball format. He also holds the record of most number of fifties in consecutive innings (7) in Test matches.
