Stuart Broad, England’s second-most successful pacer in Tests, gave away 35 runs in one over against India on Saturday. Jasprit Bumrah hit 29 off those runs. The visitors scored 416 runs in the first innings of the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham

England were 16/1 when early lunch was taken. Bumrah got rid of opener Alex Lees for six.

Broad finished with figures of 89/1. While Bumrah hit the 29 runs, six extra runs came off five wides and a no-ball.

Here is a ball-by-ball account of the 35-run over:

83.1: Stuart Broad started the over with a short ball. Bumrah trying to pull it, top edged the delivery for a boundary.

83.2: The pacer, after being hit for a boundary of a bouncer, still went short. This time, the ball flew over Bumrah and wicketkeeper Sam Billings, giving India five wides.

83.2: Broad continued with the short ball. The Indian skipper top-edged it for a six over the keeper’s head. A no-ball was called at the bowler had over-stepped. 

83.2: Delivering the second ball of the over for the third time, Stuart Broad attempted a yorker. However, what came at Bumrah was a juicy full toss, which was smashed over mid-on for a boundary. 

83.3: A good length ball around off for Broad went for a boundary with the help of an inside edge. 

83.4: On the fourth ball, Jasprit Bumrah fell down, trying to pull a short ball in front of square wicket. He got a boundary. 

83.5: Stuart Broad delivered a short and around leg-stump ball. Bumrah got inside the line and helped it along the way to long leg for a flat and clean six. 

83.6: The last ball was a toe-crushing yorker. Bumrah dug it out for a risky single. The over amounted for 35 runs.
