India on Saturday beat England on Saturday by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth and final Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and qualified for the World Test Championship against New Zeland with the 3-1 series win. From cricketers to political, people across the spectrum congratulated Team India for their win. 

President Ram Nath Kovind took to Twitter to congratulate the Indian team, as he said., “Heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the test series 3-1 against England, becoming finalists of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship and reaching the top of the ICC Test Team Rankings Table!”A

“I feel delighted that I had the opportunity to inaugurate the magnificent stadium where the first two test matches have seen India win. My best wishes to all the players for their excellent performance in the final,” he said in another tweet. 

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “Congratulations to #TeamIndia on a well deserved victory in the 4th #INDvsENG Test & for winning the Test series! Best wishes for the World Test Championship Finals.”

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also hailed Team India’s victory, saying, “Fantastic victory #TeamIndia! Many congratulations on reaching the WTCFinal. Absolutely enjoyed the way each player contributed in every department throughout the series, especially Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Akshar Patel and Rohit Sharma.”

Former cricketer Aakash Chopra said, “Well done, Team India. To win a Test series at home without Kohli-Rahane-Pujara scoring a single century and no Jadeja-Shami. That too…after losing the first Test match convincingly. This team keeps growing in stature….appreciation and admiration.”

Man of the match, Rishabh Pant also took to Twitter, hailing India’s victory, he said, “Great performance by Team India after the first Test setback. Very happy to be able to play my role in helping the team, while batting and keeping. World Test Championship beckons!”

Indian team captain Virat Kohli said, “We worked really hard for this, happy to be in the finals. Looking forward.”

BCCI President Jay Shah said, ”

Congratulations #TeamIndia on reaching the final of World Test Championship. You have inspired the nation and uplifted the mood in these times. Looking forward to England come June.” 

After win against England in the Test series, India’s rank has shot up to the top in the World Test Rankings with 72.2 points. New Zealand, another finalist for the World Test Rankings, is at the second spot with 70 points.
