Make a list of players with more than 10,000 T20 runs and 300 wickets. It won’t take long. The elite feat has been achieved by only one cricketer – Kieron Pollard. On Tuesday, during Mumbai Indians’ six-wicket win over the Punjab Kings, the West Indies skipper took two wickets, reaching the 300 mark.
Brought in for the seventh over, Pollard first got rid of his national colleague Universe Boss Chris Gayle for his 299th wicket and then dismissed KL Rahul. The PBKS captain scored 21 runs while Gayle returned on one. With Pollard’s double strike Mumbai reduced Punjab to 41/3.
With Rahul’s wicket, Kieron Pollard also became the 11th player to record 300 dismissals in the shortest format. Others on the list are Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, Sunil Narine, Lasith Malinga, Rashid Khan, Shakib Al Hasan, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz, Shahid Afridi and Andre Russell.

Talking about the feat, Pollard, the player of the match, said,” Very important to get my 300th wicket. I know what I can do in all the facets of the game. I will be more than happy to do what the team needs of me. You try and watch and target whom you can target and not. I enjoyed my 300th wicket which was KL and obviously it’s a landmark and very special.”
“For me, it’s just of trying to practice and it’s all about practing and batting according to the situation. I admit that I don’t have pace, swing and seam but I can use my brain and get the job done. For us it’s very important to get these two points and hopefully this will be the much-needed spark in the dressing room,” he added.
