Rinku Singh smashed 42 runs off 23 balls against the Rajasthan Royals, guiding the Kolkata Knight Riders to a seven-wicket win at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Tuesday. The 24-year-old hit hit six boundaries and one maximum during his stay at the crease as his side chased a 153-run target with five balls to spare. 

In a post-match conversation with fellow batter Nitish Rana, Singh revealed that he had written the score on his palm even before the start of the tie.

Rinku Singh was named the player of the match. The batter from Aligarh stitched a 66-run stand with Rana (48 off 37) after KKR were down 92/3. 

After the match, in a video posted by iplt20.com, Singh told Rana that he had written 50 on his palm because he had a feeling that he will be the player of the match.

“I was getting a feel that I will score runs and get Player of the Match today. And I wrote 50 runs on my hand. I was waiting for my opportunity for the last five years,” he said. 

The batter further spoke about a song he, Nitish Rana and star all-rounder Andre Russell have been humming for days – ‘Majhe Aale’ by AP Dhillon.

“A lot of players have played Ranji from Aligarh, but I am the first to play the IPL. This is a big league and there is a lot of pressure obviously. I have been waiting for the last five years to get a chance. I worked very hard, came back from injury and did well in the domestic circuit as well. When I was batting, Bhaiyya (Rana) and Baz (McCullum) told me to stay till the end and finish it,” Rinku Singh had said after being named the player of the match. 

With the win, their first since April 6, KKR are placed on the seventh rung of the points table. They next play the Lucknow Super Giants on Saturday.
