Mumbai
Indians
bought the Big Bash League (BBL) star Daniel Sams for Rs
2.60 crore. The left-arm pacer has taken 82 wickets in the BBL at an average of
20.52. Impressed by his exploits, MI went all out in the auction to get his
signature and won the bidding war with Lucknow Super Giants. But in the Indian
Premier League
, on Indian soil, Sams has been struggling to make his presence
felt. In 2020, Sams played three matches for Delhi Capitals, going wicketless.
He was then traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 30 lakh.  He played two matches in IPL 2021 before the
tournament was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He was unavailable for
the UAE leg of the tournament.

Sam
has featured in two games of Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022 and has been
ineffective, to say the least. In the two matches, he played so far, the
Australian pacer has gone wicketless and has been plundered for 89 runs at an
economy rate of 11.13.

In
all, Sams’ journey in IPL has been full of disappointment. He has the worst
bowling average in the history of IPL (minimum of 25 overs). In a total of
seven matches, he has bowled 26 overs and picked up just a solitary wicket at
an average of 242.

In
IPL 2021, he has taken one wicket and that was Chris Gayle.

In
BBL 7, the 29-year-old broke the record for the best figures on BBL debut with
a splendid four for 14 but in the Indian Premier League, he has been a
disappointment.

Mumbai
Indians, who are now 8th on the IPL points table, will be hoping Sams to put up
a good show in the upcoming matches.

As
a batter as well, Sams could not justify his talent. He scored seven runs in as
many matches.
