Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul praised the bowlers and spoke about losing early wickets after his side defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad by 12 runs in the Indian Premier League match at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, on Monday.

“Not ideal to lose three wickets in the first four overs, it’s not something that’ll bring us down. that’s something we need to learn as a batting group how we can play risk-free cricket. With the ball, we have been brilliant in all three games and that’s something we need to carry ahead,” he said.

Put in to bat, LSG lost three wickets for just 27 runs in the powerplay before KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda struck useful half-centuries and lifted the team to 169 for seven.

In reply, SRH lost openers Abhishek Sharma (13) and Kane Williamson (16) to Avesh Khan’s spell. Rahul Tripathi rescued the team from 38-2 and put on 44 runs with Aiden Markram (12) for the third wicket. But Hyderabad kept losing wickets at regular intervals and eventually lost the game by 12 runs.

“If you look at the performance, was certainly much improved from our first outing. The start with the ball was outstanding. Were in a strong position, if we could just break that next partnership. Credit to Hooda and Rahul,” Kane Williamson said on the defeat

“We have enough firepower. Didn’t quite work today. The guys with the roles they have with the ball were outstanding. It’s small margins. A few ones and a few twos and the chase takes quite a different shape.”

SRH lost to Rajasthan Royals by 61 runs in their opening match.
