“We were looking okay and in a good spot, just coming up there, working our way methodically through the field with our M&M’s Toyota Camry, and we got Chastain’d this week. We were his victim this week,”Busch said.

Chastain was trying to avoid Ty Dillon’s No 42 and in doing so, he clipped the back-left of Busch’s No 18. Both cars spun.

Chastain, who took the lead at the start of the race and led the entire 70-lap first stage, never got back to the front again and finished 18th, two laps down.

The crash sparked a debate, with several drivers slamming Chastain, especially due to his history with wrecks.

Chris Gabehart, Denny Hamlin’s crew chief, sarcastically on the radio said,”The latest caution is brought to you by Ross Chastain.”

Hamlin has been wrecked by Chastain on several occassions. He got a bit of revenge near the end of the recent Pocono race as the two drivers battled for the lead.

“I mean, we’re just going to keep racing hard until we get the respect back from these guys. It’s not just that. We’ve been wrecked four times, twice while leading in the last 10 months. I’m at the end of it,” Hamlin said after the race.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr, NASCAR legend, defended Chastain. He spoke about the way he left Martin Truex, Jr. furious after a crash he had with Chastain.
