Ja Morant is being slammed as ‘Ja Warrant’ on social media after the Memphis Grizzlies player reportedly flashed a gun in a live Instagram video in a Colorado club, which means it is very likely that he carried it with him on a team plane.

The Grizzlies played the Denver Nuggets on Friday.

The 23-year-old is being investigated for the incident, police said. The NBA is also conducting a probe into Ja Morant’s behaviour and the guard has been suspended for two games by the Grizzlies. However, reports also suggested that he might have a 50-game suspension. However, the claim cannot be substantiated.

Amid the probes, Ja Morant is being trolled on Twitter. A new hashtag ‘Ja Warrant’ is trending. Last week, The Washington Post said it had obtained a sealed police report in which the Grizzlies star was accused of punching a teenage boy during a pickup game. In the other incident, Morant was accused of threatening a mall security guard.

“Ja Warrant (war-rant) is hilarious 😂” a Twitter user said.

Glendale police Capt. Jamie Dillon told The Associated Press that authorities didn’t receive any calls or complaints about Morant’s actions but began looking into them Saturday after learning about the video that circulated on social media.

“He’s definitely embracing the mistakes that he’s made, but only time will tell. We’re going to support him, and we’re going to hold him accountable to make those changes,” Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins said. However, he did not comment on the steps Morant needed to take in order to return to the team.

“We love him, we want what’s best for him, we support him. It’s going to be a difficult process, but we’ve got a great group to get through this.”
