Jimmie Ward, cornerback and free safety for the San Francisco 49ers, was trolled after the San Francisco 49ers were handed a penalty against the Seattle Seahawks at the Levi’s Stadium on Saturday.
Ward hit Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith as he was going down. That set the visitors within field goal range with one second remaining in the first half. Kicker Jason Myers made a 56-yard attempt to give his side a 17-16 lead going into half-time.

“Trade Jimmie Ward during halftime,” a Twitter user said.
“Jimmie Ward with the bonehead play of the day for sure. Almost as bad as his boneheaded Stafford takes,” another one added.
“Unbelievably idiotic 17 seconds of football from #49ers … why squib… and wtf is Jimmie Ward thinking… deserve to be losing,” a third one said on Twitter.

Ward had one of the most mind-numbing penalties right before halftime in the wild-card playoff game. Before Ward’s penalty, the 49ers squibbed a kickoff instead of kicking it deep. That gave Seattle possession at their 38-yard line. Still, they shouldn’t have been able to get into field-goal range with nine seconds left in the halftime.
The 49ers will receive the second-half kickoff.
In the first quarter, Seattle fell behind 10-0 after it looked like the Niners would be able to secure victory on the shoulders of star running back Christian McCaffrey, who finished the half with five carries for 72 yards and a touchdown reception. But the Seahawks responded after McCaffrey’s point and didn’t look back for the remaining half. Rookie running back Kennet Walker III put Seattle on the board early in the second quarter with a seven-yard touchdown run that capped a 14-play, 78-yard drive.
