Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp remains unfazed as news of Norwegian star Erling Haaland’s move to Manchester City has rocked the transfer market and the Premier League

The 54-year-old has admitted that Haaland’s arrival will elevate the PL to new heights, as the 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund player has completed his medical ahead of a summer transfer to City. 

Speaking of rivals signing Haaland, who’s currently one of the most promising young players in the world, Klopp noted “If Erling Haaland goes there, it will not weaken them – definitely not”, as per OneFootball.

Pep Guardiola, City’s masterful Spanish manager, sees Haaland becoming a star striker with the PL side and Klopp concurred, saying “I think it’s been spoken about enough and at the moment it’s a lot of talk about money but this transfer will set new levels, let me say it like that.” 

However, the German remains confident regarding Liverpool’s chances in the league, despite this transfer news. Klopp said “I signed a new contract knowing that City will not stop developing, so it’s not about if City keep flying whether we can be happy or not. It’s about us and what we can make of it”, adding, “We have so many opportunities and so many different ways to win a football game, and we to find just one. That’s possible, obviously, and we can do that.”

In the current season, Liverpool’s 1-1 tie with Tottenham Hotspur, along with City’s 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle, has given Guardiola’s side a thee point lead and some breathing space in a hotly contested title race. 

With the Spaniard’s attention to perfection and the German’s focus on mentality and intensity, the Liverpool and City rivalry has currently become one of the finest in the footballing world. 

Aston Villa coach and former Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard admitted that this is by far the best Merseyside team he’s seen, and with City upping the ante with Haaland’s arrival, the PL competition is only expected to get better.
