After Travis Kelce caught a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes on Saturday, things became a little tense during Kansas City Chiefs training camp. The All-Pro tight end appeared to object to Jack Cochrane striking at the ball in a video taken by Nicholas Roesch for Chiefs Wire, and he punched the linebacker.

The Chiefs were running plays in the end zone when Patrick Mahomes as usual connected with Kelce for a score. However, Kelce became enraged when Jack Cochrane attacked him late in the game after the tight end had already grabbed the ball inside the endzone.

Kelce swung around and punched Cochrane, and the two continued arguing before things calmed down. Although the delayed blow was unnecessary, Kelce shouldn’t have been bothered by it because it wasn’t delivered with much force. The rest of the Chiefs’ lineup watched from a distance as Cochrane and Kelce fought before walking off in different ways.

Later, Kelce expressed regret and said he must work to become a ‘better leader’ and ‘better teammate’. He posted on Twitter saying, “Gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple.”

On Friday, Kelce and cornerback Dicaprio Bootle got into a fight. In addition, Kelce was “agitated” with a referee earlier, before his confrontation with Bootle, according to Pete Sweeney of Arrowhead Pride.

In defense of Kelce, both Cochrane and Bootle took their shots at the ball after the play was ended. But they weren’t doing anything harmful, and he wasn’t in any danger of getting hurt. The Chiefs were still able to practice in spite of the circumstances.

Cochrane, an undrafted free agent entering his second season, is competing to make the 53-man roster. Bootle joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He has appeared in seven games in the NFL so far and has made 11 tackles in both games.
