A hot tiff between Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant and NBA player turned analyst Jay Williams has been making headlines for the past week. The two have been in a war of words since Williams shared a story on broadcast about Durant’s dislike towards Greek player Giannis Antetokounmpo

The argument took place after Jay Williams, on Tuesday, recounted a story of his encounter with Durant. Speaking on ESPN show ‘Get Up!’, Williams said that Durant came up to him and asked to never be compared with Giannis.

“I go to the holiday party, Kevin Durant comes up to me and says ‘yo, don’t you ever, ever, compare me to Giannis. Don’t you ever compare me to Giannis.’

“I said ‘KD what are you talking about…. I was just talking about similarities, physicality-wise, size, length.”

“He’s like ‘no, don’t you ever compare me to Giannis.'”

Williams concluded that there must be a personal rivalry between Durant and Giannis.

Durant, however, accused Williams of lying. In an Instagram comment, Durant wrote,” This a [expletive] lie. Jay Williams can NEVER speak for me, ever…”

Jay Williams issued a response to Durant’s comment on Thursday.

“I stand by my story … I was probably wrong for sharing a personal story. But that’s what we do. That’s what we do here on our show. And it was meant as a compliment for Kevin Durant to show that there are levels to this,” he said.
