Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks star, will pay for the funeral costs for the victims of a school shooting n Belgrade. He would also be paying for the grief counseling for classmates and staff members, reported ESPN.
“I am heartbroken by the tragic school shooting in Serbia and the loss of lives, including those of innocent school children. My thoughts are with the families and the entire community affected by this tragedy,” Doncic said in a statement.

Doncic’s father Sasa Doncic, is Serbian and has multiple relatives who live in Belgrade region.
Who are Sasa Doncic and Mirjam Poterbin?
Luka Doncic’s father Sasa Doncic is a basketball coach and former player. His mother Mirjam Poterbin is an owner of beauty salons. The couple filed for divorce in 2008, with Luka’s custody and legal guardianship granted to his mother.
Sasa Doncic last worked as the head coach of Ilirija in the Slovenian League.
During his playing career, he played for several clubs in Slovenia, Serbia and France. He primarily played at the shooting guard and small forward positions.

In his professional club career, Sasa won two Slovenian Premier A League Championships in 2007 and 2008. He won three Slovenian Cups in 2004, 2007 and 2008. In 2007, he also won the Slovenian Supercup.

In the 1991 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship in Greece, he played for the Yugoslavia national cadet team. He played two matched for the senior Slovenian national basketball team at the FIBA EuroBasket 2005 qualification in 2004.
In 2010, he retired from playing professional basketball and started working as a coach.

Mirjam Poterbin is a Slovenian beautician, entrepreneur, philanthropist and former model. She was born in 1974 in Ljubljana. She owns and run the company named LD7, which markets products with Luka’s name.
Poterbin is a trained dancer and model. She worked at the Society of Fashion Workers.

She finished high school in hairdressing, cosmetology, tourism and the gymnasium. She graduated from the High School of Administration in Ljubljana. Poterbin studied at the Faculty of Sports in Ljubljana.
