In a somber turn of events, a 53-year-old man, identified as Dale Mooney from Newmarket, New Hampshire, met an untimely end while attending the New England Patriots’ home game against the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium. The unfortunate incident unfolded in the 300s section of the stadium, occurring in the final minutes of the Patriots’ 24-17 loss.
Emergency response teams acted swiftly, rushing Mooney to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced deceased. The specifics surrounding the incident remain undisclosed, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office is in the early stages of an investigation. As of now, no charges have been filed.
Tragically, another medical emergency transpired during the same game, when a second individual experienced cardiac arrest earlier in the evening. Quick-thinking off-duty firefighters sprang into action, administering CPR for several minutes, successfully reviving the man. His current condition has not been made public.
During the fourth quarter of the Patriots-Miami Dolphins matchup, the medical event took place in the 308/309 section of the stadium, at approximately 11 p.m. State police conveyed that Mooney was promptly taken to Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, where he was pronounced deceased just before midnight.

The circumstances leading up to the medical incident remain unclear, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office has stated that no charges are pending at this juncture. An autopsy, conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, is slated for as early as Monday.
State police detectives, collaborating with Foxboro police, are diligently working on the investigation. This tragic incident stands separate from the life-saving heroics of two firefighters, also attendees at the game, who resuscitated a fan suffering from cardiac arrest.
