Manchester United supporters reacted to Mason Mount, a recent addition, being given the coveted No. 7 jersey.

On July 5, the Red Devils revealed Mount’s signing. The club pays Chelsea £60 million to get the English midfielder to the team. The Englishman will wear the coveted No. 7 shirt, as shown in the unveiling video.

The No. 7 jersey for Manchester United has been worn by many legendary players over the years, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona. The Red Devils debated giving teenager Alejandro Garnacho the jersey after Ronaldo left in November of last year.

Garnacho, who came up through the club system, has been impressive ever since he made his senior debut in 2022. In 36 games as a left winger, he has five goals and five assists to his credit.

But Mount now wears the prized No. 7 jersey for the team. That hasn’t exactly delighted the fans.

In 2019, Mount, 24, made his senior debut after graduating from Chelsea’s academy. In 195 games for the Blues, he scored 33 goals and made 37 assists, among other accomplishments, including the UEFA Champions League victory.

Manchester United made verbal bid for Andre Onana

According to Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, Manchester United has made a verbal bid to sign Andre Onana.

Goalkeepers are needed for the Red Devils. David de Gea is officially a free agent after his contract with lapsed on June 30. Onana has now been mentioned by United as a possible alternative for the Spaniard.

According to Romano, United has made a bid for the Cameroonian custodian in the range of €45 million. Inter are asking for €60 million, and Onana is apparently also interested in the transfer.

The international Cameroon player transferred from Ajax to Inter Milan last summer. In 41 appearances across competitions for the Nerazzurri last season, he recorded 19 clean sheets. He assisted them in finishing third in Serie A and the UEFA Champions League final.
