Saquon Barkley, who returned after missing some time in the 2021 season, had a 68 yard run for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans at the Nissan Stadium on Sunday night. The New York Giants and the Titans were tied at 13-13 in the third quarter.

The first Sunday Night of the 2022 season saw three other players score after returning from injuries:

Christian McCaffrey:

One of the best running backs in 2019, Christian McCaffery played a combined of 10 games the last two seasons. The Carolina Panthers had placed him on a shin injury list on Thursday. However, he started against the Cleveland Browns.

The Browns won the game 26-24. 

McCaffrey scored his first touchdown of the 2022 season.

Michael Thomas:

Michael Thomas scored two touchdowns against Atlanta Falcons. The 29-year-old helped the New Orleans Saints win 27-26. 

Thomas was listed as questionable on Friday’s final injury report. However, started on Sunday. The Saints WR had not scored a TD since 2019. He featured in seven games in 2020 and missed all of the 2021 campaign due to injury.

DeAndre Swift:

DeAndre Swift had 15 carries and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Detroit Pistons, however, lost 38-35. 

He had a total of 175 yards, which included 144 rushing and 31 receiving. Swift also became the first Lions running back to run for 100 yards in a Week 1 game since Barry Sanders in 1996. 

Swift suffered a groin injury during the Lions’ training camp last year. He also suffered an AC joint injury during Week 12’s loss to the Bears.

Saquon Barkley:

Saquon Barkley sprinted down the sidelines at the Titans’ 22 for a 68-yard run.

Barkley had suffered an MCL strain during the Week 2 contest at Chicago in 2020. In the next year, the Giants RB suffered a low-ankle injury in Week 5 contest against the Dallas Cowboys.
