Morocco fans chanted FIFA Mafia after referee Abdulrahman Al-Jassim did not allow a penalty in the FIFA World Cup 2022 third-place playoff match against Croatia at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Moroccan journalist Tancredi Palmeri reported the incident on Twitter. Several videos of the incident were also shared on the social media platform.
Moroccan fans have been the most vocal in the tournament in Qatar so far. Along with cheering their fans during their matches, they also booed incessantly every time an opponent player got the ball. After the semi-final loss against France, they clashed with the French fans in Montpellier, the French city.
Morocco has produced one of the most memorable underdogs runs in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. They became the first team from Africa to ever reach a FIFA World Cup semi-final. On their way to the last four, they managed to beat European footballing giants like Belgium, Spain and Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal.

After the loss to France in the semis, they matched up against the Croats for the Bronze medal. However, resilient Croatia saw them through winning by two goals to nil. They finished fourth in the tournament as a result, the first-ever African team to do so.
The tournament will now end with the final match between Lionel Messi-led Argentina and Kylian Mbappe-led France.
