The New York Jets hosted the New England Patriots in Week 8 of the 2022 NFL season on Sunday, October 30, at MetLife Stadium. While the Jets began the game brightly, taking a 10-6 lead in the first half, their performance went into a spiral from the third quarter.

The Jets lost star running back Breece Hall in the previous week and his absence was felt against the New England Patriots on Sunday. Quarterback Zach Wilson was a shadow of his best self and was intercepted three times in the game. Let’s take a look at all of his interceptions here:

Second quarter

Wilson’s first pick against the New England Patriots came in the second quarter of the game, when he connected with tight end Tyler Conklin and running back Michael Carter in successive passes for a total of 18 yards. In the third down, the visitors applied more pressure, forcing Zach Wilson to make a poor throw, which was intercepted by Ja’Whaun Bentley.

Third quarter

The 23-year-old quarterback was picked for the second time by the New England Patriots’ defense in the third quarter, during the hosts’ first play from scrimmage. Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon closed in on Zach Wilson, forcing him to make a poor throw which was picked by cornerback Devin McCourty.

Fourth quarter

The third time Zach Wilson was intercepted in the game was in the fourth and final quarter. The New England Patriots defense forced Wilson towards his right side before he made a lofted pass that was intercepted by safety Devin McCourty.

Zach Wilson’s performance received stark criticisms from fans on social media, many of whom wanted Mike White to replace him. He registered only 20 successful passes out of 41 attempts for 355 yards, a pass completion rate of 48.8 %, 2 passing touchdowns and a passer rating of a meagre 64.6.

Mike White has not played in the 2022 NFL season so far. His last NFL appearance came against the Buffalo Bills on October 14, 2021. Incidentally, he was intercepted 4 times in that game.
