New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson was fined 25% of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct, when he threw the ball towards Faheem Ashraf on the third day of the ongoing Test match against Pakistan at Bay Oval, reported ANI.

Jamieson has breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel. According to an ICC statement, this relates to throwing a ball at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an international match.

During the 75th over of Pakistan’s first innings on Monday, Jamison threw the ball in the direction of Ashraf in his follow-through while the latter was away from the stumps with no intention to take a run.

Jeff Crowe, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees sanctioned the proposal, while Jamieson admitted the offence and accepted the proposal.

The charges where levelled by on-field umpires Chris Gaffaney and Wayne Knights, third umpire Chris Brown and fourth official Shaun Haig. No formal hearing was required in this case.

Pakistan on Wednesday took the match to the final session, needing 158 runs to win in 36 overs. A loss or draw will end New Zealand’s chance of making the World Test Championship final at Lord’s in June.
