Patrick Mahomes is as box office as it gets and the Kansas City Chief star broke yet another milestone on Sunday becoming the fastest quarterback in NFL history to pass for 15,000 yards, reaching the feat in his 49th career game.

After the first half, the Chiefs were down 3-14 against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, Mahomes stepped in with a go-ahead drive in the third quarter to give Kansas the lead and in turn reach the landmark figure.

Over the years, Mahomes’ brilliance has often just been taken for granted but the 26-year-old has been pushing the numbers every time he takes the field. Mahomes has thrown for more than 168 yards in each game he’s played other than a Week 7 contest in 2019 against the Broncos in which he was injured.

The Chiefs QB broke the record with much time to spare. The record was previously held by Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, who hit 15,000 in 53 games.

Mahomes is also the only quarterback to have thrown over 5,000 yards in both college football and the NFL. Since his entry into NFL in 2017, Mahomes has quickly become a household name and is likely to end his career as one of the greats of the game.

He is a three-time Pro Bowl, was the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and the NFL Most Valuable Player in 2018, was named in the Second-team All-Pro as well as Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year in 2020.
