A second half comeback saw the Kansas Chiefs trump the Washington Football Team 31-13 on Sunday night at the FedEx Stadium. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes ran a season-best yards at 397, engineering three touchdowns to compensate for a couple of interceptions in the first two quarters.

Kansas scored 21 points in the final two quarters when their opponents could manage none. Running back Darrel Williams came back with a couple of touchdowns, Tyreek Hill and Demarcus Robinson finishing with one each.

The Chiefs turned the ball three times in the first half. However, unlike losses to the Ravens, Chargers and Bills, the offense made up for the giveaways. The Chiefs had touchdown drives of 95, 68, 45 and 96 yards.

After throwing two picks before halftime, Mahomes connected with Tyreek Hill on a 2-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter. He put the game out of reach with a 24-yarder to Demarcus Robinson with 3:14 left in the fourth period. In between, new starting running back Darrel Williams rushed for his second TD of the game to help Kansas City (3-3) avoid what would have been an embarrassing loss.

Patrick Mahomes, however, bagged an unwanted record in the game. His two interceptions before halftime made it the fifth consecutive game in which his passes has been picked at least once. This is only the second time, the star quarterback has thrown multiple interceptions in consecutive games in his career.

Kansas’ defense held their opponents under 29 points for the first time this season. Washington (2-4) finished with 276 yards and its lowest points total of the season.

Washington coach Ron Rivera was caught on a hot microphone complaining to officials in the waning minutes of the game. Rivera could be heard making a mention of the offensive line and using an expletive to say he didn’t care.
