‘ running back Damien Harris left the game against Houston
Texans game in the middle of the fourth quarter on Sunday.

Harris
suffered a rib injury. It occurred after Harris rushed for eight yards, which
was subsequently called back owing to a holding penalty.

Harris
headed to the locker room sooner in the second half as a result. At the time,
the Patriots indicated he was doubtful to return.

After
labouring in the previous two games, Harris was able to run the ball
efficiently on Sunday. At the time he exited the game, he had 14 carries for 58
yards and a touchdown.

He had a fumble just before entering the end zone, eliminating a potential Patriots
touchdown.

He’ll
have to be watched closely ahead of the Cowboys‘ matchup next weekend.

As
a result of Harris’ absence, the Patriots will rely on youngster Rhamondre Stevenson
and veteran Brandon Bolden as their starting tailbacks.

The
New England Patriots selected Harris in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft,
with the 87th overall pick. He made his professional debut in the team’s Week 7
33–0 win over the New York Jets.

On
September 7, 2020, Harris was placed on an injured reserve due to a broken finger.
He was activated on October 5, 2020. He had 17 carries for 100 yards in a 26–10
loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.

In
a 24–21 defeat to the Buffalo Bills in Week 8, he recorded 16 carries for 102
running yards and his first career rushing touchdown. In Week 10, Harris ran 22
times for 121 yards, both career highs, in leading the Patriots to a 23–17
Sunday Night Football shock victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

On January 2, 2021, he was placed back
on the injured reserve. With 691 yards and two touchdowns after ten games, he
completed the season as the Patriots’ leading rusher.
