The New York Jets and defensive end John Franklin-Myers agreed on a four-year contract extension Thursday night, according to US media reports.

Franklin-Myers, who is 25 years old, is a youthful star on the Jets’ defensive line, which has been a strength for the club.

The financial information of the deal wasn’t available right away.

Franklin-Myers was entering the final year of his rookie deal, but the Jets have decided to retain him in the lineup until 2025.

With three sacks in the Jets’ first four games, he has already equalled his single-season record, trailing only Quinnen Williams (3 1/2). Six quarterback hits, four tackles for loss, and a forced fumble have also been recorded by Franklin-Myers.

The Los Angeles Rams selected Franklin-Myers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Stephen F. Austin. As a rookie, he started every game and had a strip-sack of New England quarterback Tom Brady in the Super Bowl.

Franklin-Myers, on the other hand, was waived during the Rams’ final roster cuts the following summer. He was claimed off waivers by the Jets and spent most of the season on injured reserve.

Last season, he broke through with the New York Giants as a dynamic defensive lineman who consistently placed pressure on the quarterback.

Meanwhile, the Jets registered their first victory in dramatic fashion after Matt Ammendola kicked a 22-yard field goal in overtime, and then Randy Bullock was wide left on a potential tying 49-yarder with 15 seconds left to down Tennessee Titans 27-24 on Sunday.

The Jets had a chance to win it without giving the ball back to the Titans (2-2) when they got to the 1 on Tevin Coleman’s 8-yard catch — on which it was ruled he was out of bounds as he dived just short of the goal line. Zach Wilson took a 3-yard loss on third down, a rookie mistake, setting up Ammendola’s 22-yarder.
