The New York Jets were swift on Wednesday. Robert Saleh and co traded wide receiver Elijah Moore and 2023 third-round pick (No. 74 overall) to the Cleveland Browns for a second-round pick (No. 42). The team is also expected to cut off Corey Davis, a move that should bring them closer to getting Aaron Rodgers and Odell Beckham Jr.

Fans on social media are predicting a Corey Davis release after Moore was sent off.

“Still waiting for the Jets to cut Corey Davis so the #Falcons can sign him,” a Twitter user said.

“The #Jets have “very real” interest in signing Odell Beckham, per @Connor_J_Hughes. The team has already added Allen Lazard and speedy Mecole Hardman in free-agency this offseason. The trade Elijah Moore and likely to move on from Corey Davis next,” NFL expert Dov Kleimen tweeted.

How does trading Moore and Davis help the Jets?

New York will not want to let go of their first-round pick, which is No 13 overall. The team could add a left-tackle. However, it seems like they will offer No 42 and 43 overall to Green Bay for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt predicted Elijah Moore’s trade on March 20. He added that the ‘Jets wideout heading to the Packers in return would be either veteran cut candidate Corey Davis or 2020 second-round pick Denzel Mims’.

Davis holds a cap hit of $11.167 million this year according to Over the Cap. If New York release him, they would save a whopping $10.5 million.

Aaron Rodgers seems like the top priority for the Jets. The four-time MVP struggled in the 2022 season but with some star WRs available, he could get to another post-season.

New York’s interest in Beckham is “very real,” according to a recent report from SNY. Rodgers wants him.
