The Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after the team’s disappointing NBA Playoffs exit vs Miami Heat. Budenholzer has been with the team since 2018. He won a title at the helm of the program in 2021.
The 53-year-old joined Milwaukee after Atlanta Hawks, where he had served as their head coach from 2013-2018. From 1996 to 2013, he was an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich for San Antonio Spurs.

The Milwaukee Bucks will now be looking for a head coach to lead a loaded roster featuring former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Bobby Portis. Nick Nurse and Frank Vogel are two of the potential candidates to replace Budenholzer.

David Adelman
David Adelman is the son of NBA coach Rick Adelman. He is the top assistant for the top team in the NBA this past regular season. Adelman has worked with the Denver Nuggets since the 2017 season. He also led Denver to the top spot in Western Conference.

Becky Hammon
Becky Hammon is the favorite to become the first woman to grab a head coach position in the NBA. In 2018, the Milwaukee Bucks interviewed her for their last opening. Currently, she is working as head coach for WNBA”s Las Vegas Aces.

Kenny Atkinson
Several NBA teams want to appoint Kenny Atkinson as their head coach ever since he joined Golden State as an assistant and helped them win a title last season.
Previously, Atkinson coached for the Brooklyn Nets and navigated the Eastern Conference.
Nick Nurse
Toronto removed Nick Nurse after a play-in appearance this season. He oversaw a five-year stint that started with an NBA championship in 2018-19. In 2019-20, he was the coach of the year as the Raptors went 53-19 before losing in the second round.

Frank Vogel
Frank has a significantly long NBA coaching resume than any of the candidates on this list. He has coached for 11 seasons as a head coach at three different stops. He had a successful run with the Indiana Pacers and a terrible two-year run with the Orlando Magic. Later, he led the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA Championship in the Orlando Bubble.
