More than 9,000 Mahindra new-gen Thar have booked ever since its launch on October 2. The company had opened bookings of the car on October 2. The SUV will be available pan India by October 15. The company also says that there is significant interest in the Convertible Top and Automatic Transmission top end variants.

The price of second-generation Mahindra Thar, which was priorly unveiled on August 15, starts at Rs 9.8 lakh for the base model.

The prices for the Mahindra Thar AX, a six-seater, variants start at Rs 9.8 lakh, going up to Rs 12.2 lakh, all prices ex-showroom. Thar luxury-focused LX, a four-seater, variant prices start from Rs 12.49 lakh for the hard-top convertible petrol and go up to Rs 12.95 lakh for the diesel.

The Mahindra SUV features BSVI compliant petrol and diesel powertrains mated to six speed manual and automatic transmissions.

“We are confident that the Thar tribe will grow stronger as a new set of customers come into its fore, in addition to the traditionalists,” said Pawan Goenka, MD & CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra, as per reports. The company also stated that the interiors of the car has a sporty front seats with height and lumbar support and will include front-facing adjustable rear seats.
