Arsenal have been off to a flying start this Premier League season, winning six of their first seven matches and suffering their sole defeat at the hands of Manchester United on September 4. The Martin Odegaard-led side defeated Brentford with a scoreline of 3-0 to replace defending champions Manchester City on the top of the league table.

City slid down to the second position after drawing their away match against Aston Villa. The Cityzens have now drawn two of their league matches, amassing 17 points against the Gunners’ 18. Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, who have also been keeping up their momentum with five wins and two draws, are also at 17 points.

Portuguese youngster Fabio Vieira started in his first league match on English soil with a goal and it remains to be seen whether he does justice to his last name, which is a legend among Gunners fans thanks to the exploits of Frenchman Patrick Vieira at the club during its heydays between 1996-2005.

Gabriel Jesus, who moved base from the blue side of Manchester to North London this season, has also been impressing his new manager, Mikel Arteta. The Brazilian forward, who scored in the match against Brentford, has netted four goals in his first seven appearances for Arsenal. Defender William Saliba scored the other goal of the match.

The North Londoners created another historical moment in the match when Arteta fielded 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri, making him the youngest-ever Premier League player in history.

The PL table is at an interesting point before the international break. We can expect to see changes in the top three positions once the league returns. The North London derby between the Gunners and Spurs is scheduled for October 1 while the Manchester derby will take place on the following day, October 2.  Arsenal, Spurs, and City have chances to be at the top of the league table after the first week of October.
