Retail inflation of India rose to 7.34% in September ahead of the festive season, data released by government on Monday shows. The inflation has occurred mainly due to higher food prices, PTI reported quoting the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO).

In August, the inflation stood at 6.69% based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), while in September 2019, it was 3.99%.

The rate of price rise in the food basket was 10.68% in September compared to 9.05% in August, as per the NSO data.

The Reserve Bank of India mainly factors in retail inflation while deciding on the key interest rate.
