Philadelphia Eagles beat Detroit Lions 38-35 in a closely contested match here at the Ford Field. The leading running backs for the home team were D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.
Swift had 15 carries and a touchdown, while his counterpart Williams had 11 carries and two TDs.

Inspite of having lesser touchdowns, Swift was clearly the better of the two RBs. He had a total of 175 yards, which included 144 rushing and 31 receiving, while Williams had a total of just 30 yards, which includes 28 rushing and 2 receiving.
In the first quarter, D’Andre Swift made a 51-yard run up the left side of the field on the game’s first play. Inspite of Swift doing the hardwork, it was Williams who scored the TD after receiving the ball and running right to the end zone, helping Lions quickly gaine a 7-0 lead.

Swift didn’t slow down or stop there, though. He then rushed to the left for 7 yard touchdown to give Detroit another 7 points. Swift then had a run up the middle for 18 yards early in the fourth quarter, bringing his total to 138 yards at that point. In doing so, he surpassed his prior record 136 yards against the Cleveland Browns, which he achieved last year.

Swift was also a factor in the passing game, catching three passes for 31 yards, including a 25-yard gain that set the Lions up first-and-goal from the 1-yard line.
With this performance, D’Andre Swift also became the first Lions running back to run for 100 yards in a Week 1 game since Barry Sanders did it in 1996. The 138 rushing yards was also the RB’s career high.

The Lions may rest easy knowing that their running game looks good even though they still have a lot to fix before their game against Washington Commanders the following week. The Eagles gained 207 yards on 34 carries for a total of 6.5 yards per rush, while the Lions gained 181 yards on 28 carries for a close second.
