Former Pakistan premier fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, on Sunday, picked his all-time One-Day International (ODI) playing XI. In his playing XI, four Indians – MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar – have made the cut. However, India captain Virat Kohli, who is considered the modern-day ODI great, failed to make it to Akhtar’s playing XI.

The former Pakistan pacer made this selection in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda picked his all-time playing XI and also justified his picks.

The Rawalpindi Express said: “The opener has to be Gordon Greenidge and Sachin Tendulkar. In the middle-order- Inzamam-ul-Haq, then followed by Saeed Anwar, you will be surprised why I have put Saeed Anwar in the middle. Because if he would have played in recent times, he would have murdered everyone. Fifth I would get classic keeper MS Dhoni and a batsman At No. 6 I would get Gilchrist.”

Akhtar picked Yuvraj Singh as his No 7 option. The Indian was part of the 2011 World Cup-winning squad and was also adjudged player of the tournament. As for the two fast bowlers, he went with his former Pakistan teammates Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

The Rawalpindi Express also included India great Kapil Dev, saying that he is the “greatest fast bowler”. He then named Shane Warne at the no 11 position and also named him the captain.

“At No. 7 I would have Yuvraj Singh. At 8 Wasim Akram and then Waqar Younis at No.9. At No. 10, to be very honest with you, I think he is the greatest fast bowler and great talent Kapil Dev. At No. 11 I would keep Shane Warne. And my captain would be, not many would agree on this one, but my captain is Shane Warne.” Shoaib Akhtar said.
