On conference championship weekend, both teams made stunning comebacks. In the AFC championship game, Cincinnati rallied from a 21-3 hole to defeat Kansas City 27-24 in overtime. In the NFC championship game, the Rams came back from a 17-7 hole to defeat the 49ers 20-17.

The offseason transaction that sent Jared Goff to Detroit in exchange for Stafford was a significant all-in moment for Los Angeles. Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr., both acquired during the season, have emerged as major players. A star-studded roster also includes wide receiver Cooper Kupp and defensive end, Aaron Donald.

Ken Anderson was the quarterback for the 1981 Bengals, who lost the Super Bowl 26-21 to the San Francisco 49ers.
